I have some tinkering to do out in the shop today. I may get into the Chevelle again. I ran all the wires yesterday and cut everything to fit, but today I want to tape up the harness to protect it and keep it orderly.
I second the Timkin option. Good call

Gave up on weedeating after slipping into the lagoon...twice. I think my Dexters might finally get thrown away, I've had them thirty years and resoled six times.

well i didnt get nothing done today.. but thats all right .. alan on diesels with high compression (24-1) and high torque starters they use a rear brace and it really helps.. i have gone as far as putting arp-studs, grade 8 washers and self locking nuts on problem ones.. i have seen many stripped bolt holes and even some broken corner on blocks

Dave. They didn't bend much. just enough to throw the nose cone over about .030. That doesn't sound like much, but it's enough to grind a flat spot in the ring gear. That big block wound up with a brace in the rear that pinched in between the block and the back of the starter so it absolutely could NOT swing away from the ring gear. I guess after I buy a new flexplate, I'll get some new bolts and make another bracket so this doesn't happen again.

Got it now Alan - the starter flexed over into the flex plate. I think the sun baked my brain a bit earlier.

The back end of the starter pulls toward the block which pulls the Bendix away from the ring gear. It took two Bendix on the 34 before I figured that one out.

See - I told you I was brain dead. Maybe I should dye my hair blonde and get it over with.

Post up some pictures of the damage if you can. Its not everyday you see grade 8 bolts bend.
Plus it's a Chevy

Hello all! Tried to catch up a little but it was hard!

Alan, live the new good deal impalla! Saw your Chevelle on the list....insert sad face here......

Rich, liked your pics from across the way. Glad your back safe.

Ok Big Red got seat belts installed and such. Didn't get the steering worked on yet, but its manageable but can't make tight right hand turns.

Hope everyone is doing well! I've been working tons of overtime and being the head honcho is not as much fun as SGT was. LT. Is too much paperwork! Lol

Howdy Jeff. I had no clue he already had it on the list, I thought it was a keeper
