Im looking to trade my tbird for a 95 f150. Only problem bad trans . But i have a spare 2wd tbird v8 tranny from a 4.6 could i use that? The truck has a 351w. Also the guy would give me a 1984 f150 5.0 trans he accidentaly bought thinking it was the right one. Any suggestions om what i should do.

The 4.6 has a different bell housing bolt pattern then your 351w, but that trans for the 302 will bolt up to the 351. It won't be the E4OD that your truck would have from the factory, but with a new driveshaft everything should bolt together. I can't comment on the computer issues you may have though, as the E4OD is an electronically controlled trans and the 84 unit would not be.

To be honest i dont think its bad. The owner said it drives in forward and reverse. He thinks the front main seal went, i think the seal went leaked all or most of the fluid out and it wont move right, because when i did my trans in my car it had little or no fluid and wouldnt move right. Any suggestions

The first thing I would do was check that it has the correct amount of fluid in it. If not, fill it and go from there.

Thats what im thinking , i think he blew the front main seal or whatever and it leaked all or most the fluid out. Because from experience i know that low fluid causes symptoms of a blown trans .
