The C4 lives

Beleive it or not the "infamous rebuit ebay C4" is alive and well. After an easy test run and recheck of fluid level I took it out for a real test. It hits all gears, plus neutrel and park smooth perfect in auto or manuale modes, and when I hit the brake and the gas It got both of those 295/50/15s spinning and sideways untill I let off, I didnt know that my Dana 53 was Posi. Boy after all the trials this thing has thrown at me (us) it felt pretty darn good. One thing that I dont quite understand is the fluid shows full after 6 qts and one in the TC, even after driveing? oh well Ill keep an eye on it. I just ordered a neoprene typwe pan gasket for when I change fluid after its broke in, and to my surprise it was $36 at Nappa, OUCH! Well that it guys and thank each and everyone of you for your encouragment, and help getting this thing on the road. FTE is great, with really nice people that arnt to busy to help a beginner like myself, attempt something that he probably has no buisness attempting. THANK YOU, YOUR THE BEST! PS my computer crashed again, and Im back on Moms antique, but Ill be checking in. Oh I forgot to mention that Im useing the HoleShot 2000 EDIT,EDIT ( Dana and Hole Shot data)

You know, that's really good to hear (read). Right on. I rebuilt a NAPA two ton floor jack today. It was a gift from an older friend of mine who's dealing with his second round of the third kind of cancer in his life. It took me ALL freakin' day, multiple baptisms by jack oil, cuts, a spring gouged my finger, I managed to get a minor puncture wound, and it finally works again. I'm pretty darned tired and very satisfied. But my tale's not nearly as heroic nor as harrowing as yours. Job well done. How's the finger?

Congrats on the conquest. I have been watching your build as I have an unknown condition C4 in my project.

FYI - I got the filter with neoprene gasket from OReilly's for $6 (mine is a 75 C4).

Enjoy the drives!!

Ben & Ross/ How do you post video? The Horaths/ Iv got most of the feeling back in the first finger, the second one has filled in with scar tissue. Thank you for asking. DMACK91/ Thats what I paid last year, today when the counter help said $36 I was shocked. I hope its some newspace age materiel for that money. Or maybe he just hit a case?LOL

Hey Jimmy,
Embarrassingly enough I've never posted video on here. I was hoping to learn from you! I'm just happy that your painful transmission learning project is winding down.
If it makes you feel any better that was also easily the most expensive & painful part of our truck reconstruction. Our first trans ($1800) we ordered a nice beefed up one from Monster Transmission online. By the time we finally got to the point of needing to install it - the warranty was up & it failed when installed. Our next try through our engine guys also failed ($700 this time). Then we towed the truck back up to Austin from the small town where we were doing the work - Another $2100 for a different AOD. It worked some & after 6 months of further adjustments we are finally good. I feel your pain on transmissions.

Looking good over there Jimmy - It will be nice to get on to other things.

Ben, I remember the saga of the AOD well, I felt so sorry for you when you were going thru it , now I know how you felt. Fortunatly that level of frustration is rare. We always seem to get thu it with the help of other FTE members. We all love our trucks, and would do it again. Take care and enjoy.

Jimmy,
Its so good to hear that all of your hard work and perserverance has paid off. I am very glad to hear it. A big round of frosty beverages in your honor!!

Posting a video isn't too bad. I load them at a photohosting site (I used photobucket) after that it basically boils down to cutting a pasting the link from the photosight.
