wiring questions

I am planning to restore and install new original taillights on my flareside F100. The truck currently has LED taillights recessed into the rear pan. If I splice into the correct wires and connect them to the new taillights - but leave the LED's hooked up- will this make a problem with the amp draw or the fuse? I like the brightness for braking, however it looks (to me) bad without the old ford taillights.

hard to say without knowing what kind of shape your harness is in.
but- if the harness is in decent shape, i'd say you could get away with piggybacking the LEDs onto the stock lights.

if everything is hooked up correctly, you'll have a fuse protecting you anyway.

thanks for the info - can I call u Rusty- My concern was that perhaps the previous owner may have changed the system since the LED's require so few amps less, and I may be blowing new turn flashers etc. I'm not even aware of. As you see , I'm no mechanic/electrician and appreciate those here who give so freely years of experience
I hooked it up and it works fine. I like the look of those old "emblem" lights on the flareside.
Thanks again

LED's have such a low current draw, that they can require a different turn signal flasher; otherwise, you can have a rapid flash. It sounds as though you got it to work.
