The PO of my truck just put a single flow 40 with a single out pipe. It's alright, little rumble around 1500 rpms (atleast not stock quiet) but all of this makes me think different. It's not my top priority right now, but I think I will change headers and add another flow 40!

I'll tell ya what they sound really good at around 4500 rpm haha. That high they get a little crackle to em. But between 2000 and 3000 they really rumble.

It might be hard to find a shop to install your parts. Most shops sell the parts for about what you can buy them yourself. At least good, honest, shops. what I will do with mine is use a single 3' muffler & pipe. I'll go 3' behind the Cat. I will have a high flow Cat like a MagnaFlow. I believe that removing Cats are not only illegal but removing them doesn't improve performance. The engine & computer are designed to run Cats. If you want to really improve performance change the computer perimeters.

Since his a 92 it would be speed density and there for only have o2 sensor so removing the cats would remove some restrictions in the exhaust.

Removing the catalytic converter improves flow which will increase power and efficiency. You are correct to say that it is not legal to remove them and run without them on the street if the vehicle came from the factory with them. I don't have them on my truck and when I removed them it was a noticeable difference. A free flowing exhaust will outperform a restrictive exhaust every time on these gassers.

As for having a shop do it, I'm sure if you had all the stuff already, the shop would be willing to install it for you. Most places don't care where the parts came from, in my experience anyway.

If you need to, get a pair of high flow cats.

Don't mean to hijack your thread but my exhaust is duals into the muffler then comes out just before the passenger side rear tire, is there anyway to bring it out the drivers side too? Exhaust shops here say it's a no go because of the gas tank..

First off, it depends on how big the piping was and how it was routed underneath. Second, you can have two identical trucks, identical engine and the same exhaust set-up and they both would sound different.

Really? That's weird. I had the stock 2.25 I just thought it should have at least been louder than stock being a 40 series on a 5.0 you know what I mean?

If your truck still had both factory cats, then switching to a Flowmaster only made in minimally louder. If you want it to rumble just remove the muffler and straight pipe it off the cats.

I only have one cat and I put a glasspack on instead and I would absolutely love to straight pipe it but the law says no
