I'm happy to be part of the crowd (self-post)
No issues, just a statement.
I've been a member here since February of last year, frequenting the 1980-1986 F150 forums, fighting with my 4.9l gas guzzler. I recently sold the 300 (the truck in my icon picture) and finally had the opportunity to buy a 1988 7.3 IDI.
My buddy with a 1997 F250 7.3PSD was the one who got me into diesels, but I don't have pockets deep with green, and the expensive repair costs of the PSD were unappealing. Finally, after about a year and a half of wanting a diesel (namely the IDI) I found one 4 days ago. Friday, I bought my 1988 F250 7.3 IDI non-turbo, for $500. I just spent $400 on it two days ago to buy a fuel filter, finish exhaust work, a battery, and glowplug set/glowplug relay for $165 online. My parts should be in by Thursday, and boy I cannot wait to put them in.
My IDI was rode hard, and put away wet. I've been putting in the labor the past 4 days cleaning her, tightening bolts, fixing loose ends, and she's mine. Which is a GREAT feeling
I can't wait to start driving my new truck (I clearly still have the warm-fuzzies)
I've been to different forums, and the people there are definitely not like the crowd here. We actually help each other and are interested fixing issues, and we don't banter nearly as much as these other forums. You guys are a great community to be part of.
