heated seats are not working

The answer is buried in here... I took apart an older extension cord and used the ground wire in splice in a new piece. So far for us, only the driver's side had to be fixed. Hoping the passenger side doesn't quit working in the middle of winter!

Had this issue, too. First step is to check the fuse, second step is to swap the control modules between front seats. If still no change, it's the pads themselves. Now, the way it's wired is the bottom one heats up first and transmits current to the seatback pad. So, if nothing is working, you almost certainly only need the seat bottom pad. If only the bottom is working, you probably need only the seatback pad. They're expensive, so break it down to make sure and order just what you need. Pretty easy job, only takes an hour or two.
Good time to disable to seatbelt chime, too.
