i am unconvinced that it would definitely not work - meaning, i still think it could be made to work.
You can pull a vacuum, but that sorta vacuum isn't the same constant, nor the same pressure.

Put a vacuum gauge on your system and see how much it measures. should be 30-40 if i recall correctly.

you'll get maybe 5-10 at idle with what your talking about.

anything under 17 inches vacuum needs pump replaced.
vacuum should really be at least 21 inches though. i have never seen a vacuum pump pull more than 24 inches vacuum.

Subscribing to what?

This isn't a hydroboost thread.

Ya'll took over my bitch thread and started talking about unrelated stuff.

This is the OBS forum though, so I should have known we could never stay on topic.

Any idea what an electric vac pump off a newer model truck is capable of pulling? Would it be able to generate enough vacuum to run the brakes? I've never put a gauge on one so I have no idea. I'm guessing not but still curious.

What the he!! are you talking about?? If you don't know what its like to lose vacuum and have to stand on the brakes then you have never had a real vac pump failure. I'm subscribing because I would be interested in a fix to this reacurring problem that a lot of us are dealing with. You know how to get a guys blood pressure up first thing in the morning!! If I want to derail one of your threads, I'll derail it!! Go hug a sheep and get over it!!

This is a bitch thread about overpriced parts, not how to fix anything.

It was derailed right from the get go on christians post. =)

And this is my second vacuum pump.
I've already had to drive 3 hours without any brakes with in town traveling.

Agree.

VACUUM PUMP IN-HG AND kPa VALUE

17-21 in-Hg is what my book shows =57-70 kPa
At idle below 10in for more than 7 seconds will illuminate the brake lamp.
Most vac leaks i have found have been at the heat/ac control.

BTW if you sit pumping the breaks you can deplete the vac and set the lamp.
