2002 Explorer....4WD questions from down under

G'day, from Sydney Australia.....
Here goes.
My 2002 Explorer XLT 4.6L V8 Auto. The dash lights are working to hold in 4X4High and 4X4Low but in 4X4Auto it feels like its in and out of 4X4 constantly on the hard surface especially after rounding a corner. When I give it some gas it feels like the transmission is slipping (a jerking thumping noise coming from the drive train and front end). If anybody can offer some ideas it would be much appreciated. Also does anyone know where to get a 4X4 circuit diagram and test proceedure as my Haynes manual is a piece of s**t.
Also can 4X4 Auto be disconnected to make it a manually selected 4X4 only ?
The local mechanic cannot connect with computer to get any error codes. Its a sad old time down under !!!
Regards,
Newlo

Hey Degoti,
Yes I can help.... After weeks (nearly months) of stuffing around it turns out that my 4x4 control module needed to be replaced. Cost me $185.00 approximately from Silver State Ford.

Just got it fixed this week since the parts had to be shipped out here to Australia. Ford is and always will be No. 1
