OK, the Pertronix Ignitor 1261 was the correct one. I installed it with a spare Standard brand coil I had. I was able to retard the timing a bit and lower the idle screw on the carb to get a nice smooth idle. I also swapped out the vacuum advance to one that held vacuum from a spare distributor I had.
I have not taken it for much of a drive yet since the wife is at work and the minion was busy. Only a quick romp through the neighborhood. It is not huge difference but it is a noticeable one.
Next will be the carb rebuild. Just waiting for the kit to get here so I can send it out.

Update: After some mishaps and some head scratching, we have the carb rebuilt and working. It still needs a touch of adjusting, but it is running smooth. Jeff rebuilt if for me.
All Hail the King II!
It has been an interesting couple weeks... err, wow it's been a month since my last post.
I finished the install on the cluster and have finally removed all unwanted under dash addons. I have replaced the U-joints finally and got rid of the annoying vibration. I thought it was something else, glad they fixed it. I have been trying to embrace my inner 'patina' and even started cleaning up the truck. I cleaned 45 years of dust and dirt from the dash, and even started to wax the body. I was surprised how much of a difference it made. The hood glare will take some getting used to.
Here are few pics so you can compare to when I first got it and now. The old pics can be found early on in the thread.

currently using Meguiar's Cleaner Wax. It helps get through the years of oxidation and bring some shine back. It also gives a good long lasting wax coat.
Some people have used cleaners such as Bon Ami to remove the stains, and oxidation from the paint. I use the cleaner was so it's all done at once.
It is not a long term thing for me, since I plan to paint the truck. Just trying to make it better in the meantime.

Hey everyone. Sorry I have been gone for a while.
Things have been busy around here with life issues. The heat has kept me from doing much with the truck. I still have things I can do when the temps allow.
I really hope to get AC by next summer. It has been so hot, that it is hard to even enjoy driving the truck.
My friend Dave donated a fan shroud from his 78/79 Bronco build since he switched to electric fans. It looks to have been trimmed several times.
The only trimming I had to do was notching for the harmonic balancer. It fit but only had about 1/32 clearance. I knew once air was funneling through it would have hit.
It's a snug fit but cleans the engine bay up more than I was expecting.
