Cool beans!

Well, I heard from the machine shop last week and the engine needs a bit more than expected. No big surprise, but it would have been nice to save a few bucks.

Getting:
bored 0.20 over (They do use the torque plate)
decked
pistons
rings
cam and crank bearings
crank turned
lifters
240 head is usable
new valves and seals
hardened valve seats
valve springs
oil pump

I have parts waiting, and a 4 day weekend (Minion is out of school) planned for the swap. It will be nice to have a fresh motor that I don't have to worry about.

Check in to the price of a "crank kit" locally. It would come already ground and matching main/rod bearings. It might be cheaper than what this shop is charging you for the bearings and grinding job.

he is giving me a good deal since he wants my business on the motor I am removing from the truck. I could piece it together a little cheaper, but not enough to be worth it. Between running around and the time it would take, this works for me. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I am guessing UPS uses our straight sixes in those brown trucks. The company I am planning to acquire my long block from said they just sold nine to them earlier this month. I don't if that is a good reference or not. UPS may be a lowest bidder type of thing.
Good luck on your rebuilt engine and engine swap.
Hoping to be in your shoes soon.

I am so horrible at getting picks in the middle of things. Maybe I can let the minion take them.
I hate having to stop and clean my hands in order to get picks.

I have really bad contact dermatitis on my hands so I wear the cheapo gloves from Harbor Freight. That makes it a little easier to just slip the gloves off grab the camera and take a few pics.
I'm looking forward the the engine swap!

I use gloves also. The wife hates how long it takes for the stains to clear off my hands.

I got the mat rough cut to fit in the cab a little better. I had to cut about 5-8" off of the front of the mat just to get it under the pedals.

It's laying down nicely after being in there a couple of weeks. One day of sitting outside in the sun would really help.....but that's not gonna happen here for another 2 or 3 months.

Sorry Greg.

I was OK with my full-mat install. Against the kick panel is not a clean and nice as I woudl like and I wished I had allowed maybe 2 inches more to go up under the firewall pad on both sides.
Looks a lot better than before and I like the material.
I think a ratchet style 9/16 inch end wrench is a real must for removing/installing the seat (which will be coming out again very soon for new fabric.
