One thing I haven't seen mentioned is that in the 2001 model F250 there is a mechanical diode in the rear of the tranny that breaks. When this tranny is rebuilt the switch is made to a non mechanical diode. Here's a pic of my 4r100 from the same 2001 F250 you have, the broken sprocket looking thing is the mechanical diode which obviously broke in my tranny, why I had it rebuilt.




btw, I got $2.18 for all the parts I recycled from that rebuild.

 

No diode in mine. Go the truck sooner and just got home. It runs fantastic now! And good engine braking in 1st and 2nd manual now.

You bet I am! It was gone since new year or so, so had to be patient like never before. One drive and it's all forgotten.
