Unhappy need help!! headers!!

I have a 1960 f100 that I have put a 5.0 mustang engine in. I am at a dead end with the type of headers that I can use or should I say that Summit and the local auto parts stores haven't helped much. The problem with using the Mustang headers is that I will run right into the steering box. Any suggestions or maybe somebody that has done this conversion before can help. Thanks a bunch.

Well, you might want to try some sort of "block hugger" header. You might want to talk to DS1959 because he's had about the same setup as you.

need help!! headers!!

labrouse,

Yes, it's true... been there, done that! I have a '59 F100 with a 302. I had a Toyota power steering box and Ford power steering pump. The full length headers fit.

I recently installed a Dakota crossmember. This, of course, caused my full length headers to no longer fit. The drop down of the headers on the driver's side hit the rear lower control arm support. The passenger side was fine with the full length headers and the crossmember kit. I had to replace the full length headers with "block hugger" headers.

So, I have a set of Doug Thorley chrome full length headers for sale, if you're interested!!! They have less than 2,000 miles on them. They are "blued" a little bit. A good once-over with polish would get them back up to speed. I have never polished them because my truck has basically been shop-to-shop for the last 2 years, so I figured I'd do the full-blown detailing tip-to-toe once everything was done.

I can E-mail you pictures of the headers if you're interested. Send me an E-mail at: ddspdc(No Email Addresses In Posts!)

I paid $400+ for them. Asking $200

Daryl
