fordgal, makes sense the tabs are for mounting the speedo. Thank you!

jafo, bearings for the clutch shaft pivot. Thank you!

bernette, I also thought the bolts were for the hood, but they are too big. Thank you!

Wood for 46 1 ton

My one ton project has been sitting idle for about 5-6 years due to selling a house, building a new one and everything else that goes with doing that. I am ready to get started again. The frame is finished, the cab is installed (pictures soon), engine rebuilt and the interior done. It is basically a running chassis now. I still need to get the fenders, hood and front valance painted. Next I will tackle the bed. That will be a project by itself. The old wood that came off from under the bed was rotted too far to be useful as patterns for the new. Does anyone know a source for patterns or the wood itself that goes under an 8 foot bed (not the bed wood itself, I know there are sources for that)?
Thanks for any help.
Ron

It is a one ton pickup with 8' wood bed. I am the third owner. I bought it from the granddaughter of the original owner. It sat in a farm field in Kansas for about 19 years. I will try to take a few pictures today.

Ol Henry

I have uploaded pictures of my 46 to the gallery. Not sure how to display them in this post.

Hi Joe, I like the green your truck is painted, is it a Ford color ?
My 1 1/2 ton will be getting painted this year..... primer on the front end in a few weeks.
Thanks, Steve.

Gday Steve!
I told the body shop guys to get as close to Greenfield Green and Tacoma Cream as they could. It may not be a perfect match but I'm pleased with how it turned out. Now I just have to get all the parts back together and get her running. It's been about 17 years since it has gone down the road under its own power. I plan to put a dump body on the back but that is a project for next year.
Looks like your making good progress on your truck. That tilt front end is impressive - really nice job! What color paint are you planning for the truck and what type of bed are you going with?

Hi Joe, thanks for the reply, mine is a '42 134'' WB and with a bit of research yesterday it
looks like 'Village Green' was the original color , Ford code M-3949. Now, I'm planning on painting the front fenders and front grille panel black.
Same deal as you with the bed... dump truck ! I came across Ford drawings somewhere
on the web that gives dimensions for a stake bed ,platform size for 134''WB 87.30''wide, 109.38''long.
For 158''WB 145.38'' long.
I started this in 1996 !
Cheers, Steve.

This was taken in the fall in Ohio

This was taken in Florida a few weeks ago.

I couldn't believe this publishers trophy from the Charlotte Sun Annual car & truck show.

Very nice paint job very smooth looking paint and I like the color. I had a 46 when I was 17 and drove it four years before letting it go and it took me 40 years to get one back. I now enjoy it so much I will attach one picture.

1ford, looks like you have both ends of the automotive spectrum covered. A nice car for a bit of an adrenalin rush. Then a beautiful old pickup to just chill out in. Really nice paint and the white walls add a nice flair. Saw your truck in the other thread and think it was really cool to acknowledge the previous owners like you did.

Steve, my initial plan was to go with a stake body for my truck. I'd like to find an original Ford script bed but they are hard to come by these days. I found a 47 Ford with a Gar Wood dump and an Eaton vacuum 2 speed axle. This truck has no engine and the cab is pretty rusted, but the dump and axle should be ok with a little work.

Thank you Joe, the truck is my favorite. I am getting ready in the spring to start a 1946 Ford 1-1/2 ton truck that has been owned by the same man since purchased in 1946. I will be the second owner and I am so excited to get started in May when I return to Ohio. I am new to this forum but will try to post a few pictures as I progress. Seeing Steve Christensen post helps get me going also. I will tow my pickup back starting May 13th with a stop in Lebanon, TN for a few days at the National F-100 truck show. They tell me this is the best of the best. Have you ever gone to this? This has been held in previous years at Pigeon Forge,TN. I like that they have moved it away from all the traffic of Pigeon Forge. Thanks for your encouraging words, Steve

Never been to the F-100 show but sure would like to go someday. Between work, honey-do lists, and lifes other commitments, I'm lucky to find the time to work on the 1.5 ton. I would like to make it to the Ford swap meet in Carlisle this summer. It is close enough to do in one day.
That is way cool finding a one-owner truck. What kind of shape is it in? Is it a dump or stake bed? Have a safe trip north and post some pics when you can.

Hey Joe, I found a few pictures of the 1-1/2 ton truck as it looks now. It is not in bad shape but I do see a lot of work ahead and look forward to watching yours as you complete it. I am located in Middletown Ohio and I see you are in Western PA. I have never been to the Carlisle Ford show would love to go. Do you know the dates? Stay in touch and send pictures with progress. Talk later, Steve
