Exhaust sound. Need tips now!

Okay I'm getting the exhaust done as of now I'm gonna just run 3in single with no cats and a dynomax bullet and shorty headers.. I'm used to hearing the 2 1/4 straight pipe with stock manifolds sound and it sounded okay it was a little to high pitched and raspy for my liking.. Heard one the other day with just the cats and it was a nice deep tone.. So my question is should I throw a cat on there along with the bullet? Will that deepen the tone? and I'll have to hook up the downstream o2 sensor so will having a cat help with my mileage and computer readings? Lastly my smog pump and emissions are gone, since the smog pump put air into the cats will that cause the cat to fail prematurely since its gone?

Oh jeez. For the love of god, if you even moderately enjoy riding in your truck, do not run headers and just the bullet. The dynomax bullet hardly takes down any decibels from the exhaust. It is going to be loud and absolutely obnoxious. Either run a cat (which you are legally required to do) and/or run a quieter muffler. I doubt it'll deepen the tone, but it'll cut down the noise a little. The 3" pipe itself should deepen the tone though.
