351w oil pan what kind of sump?

351w oil pan what kind of sump?

PUtting a heidts crossmember on next week, pulling the motor tomorrow. I believe i need a front sump oil pan. Do I need a different oil pickup tube or screen or something.?

With my Cleveland a rear sump was required. But assuming your motor mounts are already in place this could be tricky. A lot of people (including myself) move the cross member forward to center the wheels in the fenders. If you do need a rear sump you will need the corresponding pickup tube for that pan.

It is easier to install a member and then install the mounts based on where it needs to be around the member.

Hey Jrock,
You need a rear sump pan to get over that new
Heidt's IFS - not a front sump. You'll see once you try to install the engine
over that thing.

Cool. Just ordered a ford racing rear sump that comes with its own pick up tube. Thx guys
