2001 F-250 Brake rotor/pad recommendations
I have a 2001 f-250 V10 superduty 4x4 and am looking for some recommendations on replacement brake pads and rotors.
I started hauling a 10,000 lbs travel trailer a couple of years ago, and it seems like I am constantly burning through pads on my truck. The other thing is my rotors keep getting warped causing the dreaded thumpy brakes.
Every time I change the pads, I keep getting told my rotors are too thin to turn, so I have to get new rotors also. With other vehicles I used to be able to turn rotors a couple of times. What is the mimumum thickness recommendation for the rotors for this truck?? Are the OEM rotors for this truck thin from the start, and is that why they can not be turned??
I am looking for suggestions on what brake pads and rotors I should get that will have good braking and a little longevity with the life of the rotors.
I am not looking to upgrade the brake to aftermarket calipers, etc. I am just looking for the best brake pads and rotors I can get for my stock truck. I will pay a little more for pads and rotors, if I know they are gonna last longer.
Thanks for taking the time to give me a hand.

I went with O'Reilly brake pads....guaranteed for life. Also had bought 2 new rotors from them....like 52.00 each. Put those on and had my old ones turned so I always have a spare set. Be sure to pull the caliper pins out and clean them up.I lubed mine with dialectic grease. Stopped mine from feeling like a warped rotor.

I used quality raybestos rotors and Wagner Severe Duty pads. They stop excellent! How are your trailer brakes? If they aren't doing they're part you'll be beating your brakes more than ya need too. Checking slide pins is great too, auto parts stores sell caliper grease and that's what I use

It seriously sounds like you have trailer brake issues. Plus any match up between a disc/disc pull vehicle with a drum braked trailer is going to have consequences on the pull vehicle. The brake effectiveness curves are not ideal.
Those rotors are not getting warped, they are getting heat spotted.
