A few nights ago my truck started to miss, rough idle and sometime stalled out when I was coming to a stop. I originally had a P0340, P0344, and P0345 code. I replaced both camshaft position sensors. The P0345 code cleared for Bank 2 but the other 2 codes still remain which relate to Bank 1. The issue doesn’t always happen when I come to a stop now but does happen time to time. Any suggestions?

 

Most likely either you have low oil pressure at the phasers or the VCT solenoids are bad. The codes are being set because the PCM can't control the cam timing. Does it make a loud rattling noise while it's idling rough and goes away when revved up a bit? Have the oil changes been done on a regular basis with good filters? Does the engine have at least 25 PSI oil pressure at hot idle? If all those are yes then Ford has updated the VCT solenoids to this 8L3Z-6M280-B number and would be a good place to start. If the oil pressure is low then check the crankshaft endplay. Some model years had a problem with the thrust washer failing and allowing the crank to walk causing low oil pressure.
