93-94 Turbo 7.3 IDI made 190 hp @ 3,000 rpm. and 388 peak torque @ 1,400 rpm.

7.3 powerstroke made 275 hp @ 2,800 rpm and 525 peak torque @ 1,600 rpm. ( And I believe these number vary depending on year and such)

All these numbers are stock engines. So you start tuning and such and you can get decent mpg and power.
Thank you for that Imfo

That looks like a very clean truck, but I agree the prices seems high. Age has effects on a vehicle even with low miles. Keep an eye on it if your interested. I'd be willing to bet it doesn't go for that price.

That truck looks alright. Low mileage, which can be good or bad. If it sat a long time with hardly any use you could be replacing parts and dried out rubber hoses and bushings. But, I wouldn't pay more than a couple grand for it. Maybe 2500 at the most.
As somebody that owns an F250 with a small block 351w (with just a couple performance upgrades) in it, I will say that for how I use it, the truck is awesome. A lot of people complain about how low powered the small blocks are, and often times it's because the rest of the truck isn't set up for what you're trying to do. My truck had 4.11 gears when I bought it and I was very happy with the towing power of it. It had no problem pulling a trailer with a big bronco on it a few times. However, I have driven a few 460 powered trucks, and they do feel like they have a little bit more power if they have 4.11 gears, but with 3.55 gears, I can't feel a difference between that and my truck.
But like some of these guys said, an F350 would probably be a better suited truck if your main purpose is going to be moving considerable amounts of weight with it.

Be patient and keep looking, I just bought my '91 F250 turbo IDI 5 speed for $2700.
It is not perfect but it is good shape, the engine was rebuilt about 70,000 miles ago, the truck has 219,000 on it.
So they are out there, just have to be patient

The previous owner did when he had the engine rebuilt. This thing runs so clean, very little smoke, a little haze when I really get on it.

Just a FYI, the Powerstokes from
94-96 were 215hp/425tq.
97 was 225hp/450tq
The 275HP/525tq did not come along to 2000 and that was only with a stick
96 460 was 235hp/ 390tq

No he's right. It's an oil heat exchanger. The coolant warms up far faster than the oil, and when the oil is cooler than the coolant - it works to heat the oil up faster. That is a good thing.

i just dont understand why people would want a gas over diesel for TOWING!. diesels just friggin love to work, run these idis at redline all day long. a member on the idi forum has an idi wrecker is 470k miles on it i believe.
also number 1 why diesel over gas..fuel savings, especially when towing! you can get youraelf a really nice idi for 3k.

but best bet for you-get in and drive both! the diesel will really shine with a load behind it i bet. i swear my truck feels better when its towing a car behind it.

No mater which power plant you choose, it will be a tough truck either way
