No Start in Tucson PCM ??????????
Have a problem now at the RV Park we are at in Tucson. Any ideas, or suggestions before I decide to take it to a shop? Hate paying the prices and never know when I might be led down a dark alley with what the problem is.
A couple of instances last fall where after starting the truck it would sputter and stop or sputter and finally start running normal or would crank and not start. After a few of these no more problems. Set Superchips Power Programer to performance mode for pulling 5th wheel West. Ran fine all the way out to Yuma, AZ from Duluth. We were in Yuma for 5 weeks and I tried to set the computer back to stock and got the error message. Tried again and it worked.
Drove about 250 miles to Tucson with no problems. Also drove about 60 miles on various trips locally. Decided to try again to return to stock and got error message of intake air temp too high, which makes no sense as the vehicle has not been running. It turns over fine but won't start. Put the fuel pump fuse back in before each start attempt. Also had an error message once of number 6 which may correspond to Computer and Auxilary Outputs.
Superchips no longer provides support for this model tuner as it is a 1999. Truck is a 99 Ford F-350 V-10 with about 144,000 miles mostly towing. I have been looking on the Internet and have found dealers charging $1000.00 for computers and $800 in labor. Have been trying to take computer out and removed two screws from what holds the computer behind the parking brake but it won't pull out. Must be a screw from firewall side to remove, but it's pretty hard to see back there. If I could get it out I would try to see if I could get it tested and if there are issues, I would send it in to be refurbished. I'm not a good armchair mechanic but I am a good research person and $1800.00 is a lot of incentive.
Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated.
