Hey guys. I've got a 1991 ford f150 with the 300 I6 and an e40d trans. I've had a problem with my ignition switch for a while and it finally broke. So I replaced it with a new one and it won't even go in all the way. I've replaced the box on the column that the wires plug into and the rod slips in. Still nothing. The only thing it will do is make the radio come on. I can't get it out of park. And the steering wheel won't lock. Any ideas on what this might be??

 

Sounds like the ign is in run before you slip it in. Should just slip on.

 

thers a gear that goes onn the end of the keyd switch...if the box switch isnt set all the way up the ignition "keyed" section wont slide in right and wont turn the boxed switch right....Ive also seen the rod between the 2 being bent thus throughing off the alignment...
