Vintage license plate picture thread

reading this thread made me curious what the 1956 NC plate looked like. I ran across this web site that offers repro plates that match the issued plate for any state and year. The will also emboss it with whatever numbers or letters you'd like: Custom Front License Plates, Personalized Vanity Auto Plate -LICENSEPLATES.TV

I've had my eyes open for a nice 52 BC truck plate. I'd love to have one for the Merc, since that's where it came from originally. Not that I could run it permanently, but it would be cool to have one for show. Let me know if you run into something.

I was lucky enough to have a pair made before they stopped production.
Also bought this 1963-67 repro plate from them years ago, along with one for the 51.
I wish I could get a set of the correct 1951 plates for my 51 now, but oh well.

The "problem" with KY plates of that era is that they stamped the county into them, which exponentially increases the difficulty in finding the right one. I also contacted that company mentioned above. The one I would need would look like this, but not the right county. They said they could reproduce it except for the "waffle" effect (no real surprise). BUT, out of curiosity, I called the county clerk's office and asked if we could use old plates. She said KY doesn't allow any of that. I guess they're afraid they'll lose a dollar or two by not selling you a new plate.

This is on my Model "A". Connecticut allows you to display vintage plates as long as you register them and no one else is using the numbers.
I'm hoping to use this on my truck, although I only have one plate so it may not work since the state may require two.
A couple from Vermont. The '48 plate isn't in very good shape - it looks like someone folded to put in their pocket. The '55 plate came off my Grandfather's car. I have several others that he had on the wall of the garage.
