Don't hold your breath Nick, LOL I will not be pulling for a couple weeks and I, like you, have normal temps when I'm running around empty.

Well I'm going to go ahead and order one. Need to do an oil change this weekend, so I might as well see what happens.

Does it run cooler in general? That's where mine used to sit, empty or pulling.... 100 degree heat wide open on a climb i might see an R :-)

I would say yes, cooler in general. Pulling is a whole different story! If I ever come down I25, are you close to that? We have in the past but lately its been to Salt Lake City and down to Las Vegas to AZ.

So I take it as you mentioned before, you have not got a chance to tug a load yet?

Good to hear, I ordered mine today so I can drop it in this weekend. It won't be a heavy load, say maybe 5k lbs I'll be tugging up mid October to go hunting, but it will be up I70 so I'm sure it will rear its nasty issue if its not the thermo. I have a few tree jobs to do between now and then and get to haul the goose loaded, but its not all too apparent till we are climbing. I sure hope this is it as I do not want to deal with a radiator... had a lot of equipment break over the last two weeks, and the truck keeps going further down the list...

Yeah I'm not too far off 25. I'm about 15 miles East of Parker CO. Takes about 25 min to get to I25. If you guys are ever headed through and need a hand in case of emergency, I can be roadside fairly quick... got a couple spare emergency parts motors in the shop too :-)

Heck if you want a bed to sleep in we have extras as well!

That's very generous Nick, you never know LOL. In April we go up thru Kansas to Omaha to see the grandkids. Then in Oct we go Salt Lake way home but my wife once in awhile likes to go to Tucson and I25 is the best route there.

Funny story, we were in Cheyenne once and when we got up all the neighbors were saying that a ice storm was coming in from the north. We got on I25 and high tailed it all the way to Santa Fe, NM. That's the farthest we have ever gone in one day, about 500 miles. The storm chased us all the way. The Raton pass is a Bitc!

Well the offer stands! If you ever head through and need something just let me know.

That's a good haul for one day. Raton is a pretty darn good climb. Curious if you have ever gone over 70 with your load? It makes it feel like Raton just for about 4 hours Few breaks here and there to cool it down.

I'm guessing he was talking about I70 and not 70 MPH.

Yeah I will say coming down is by far the worst part of it, shoot you would have to add a brake controller for assistance from the car behind the 5er I only asked as I was curious what you saw on your gauges going up it for comparison. I'm still way behind in the gauge departement... need to get the ones sitting in the shop finally installed for fuel pressure, coolant temp, EOT.. when thing slow down...

I have actually thought about one of those brake controllers for assistance.

I guess you could kind of use it as an "emergency brake"
