I'm going to try and change it again before leaving for home but it depends on how long it takes to get the turbo in. I might have to drive it the 6-700 miles and change it then.

Yep I'm coming west on I-90. I have your number in my cell and I will remember to call. I appreciate the help Darin. I'm going to go get the turbo here shortly.

I forgot to mention you could stop at my shop and change the oil again or anything else you'd need if you haven't passed my town already. I'm right on I90. I've got rotella 15w40 and a motorcraft filter here if you need. Just an option if you're not gone yet.

Update when you can.

You read my mind Glenn. Although my phone is acting funny, I'll get you in a bit Darin.

Thanks guys. I just went and met Chris and his buddy a little bit ago. He stopped at a truckstop close to town to do a couple things and meet up. Talked for a while, messed around with the trucks/trailers, etc. He hung around here for almost 2 hours. He's a really great guy, along with his friend. I'm glad I got a chance to meet him. His trucks running good and they are on their way west.

Now if I could get to meet some more of you!

I also want to say that is a REAL nice truck Chris has. I need to take a few lessons on how to keep things clean like his truck is. In, out, and under the hood. I did find one thing where mine looks better, my under the hood insulation is perfect, his has been damaged before he got it by a broken belt. Mine's not bad by any means, but that is a nice, clean, straight truck.

I didn't do much to deserve the reps, he did all the work. I offered to come help, but wasn't needed.

Well we made it to Spearfish and all is well so far. The turbo went in pretty easy. Found out it has a 1.00 A/R exhaust housing, which isn't what I wanted at first, but I am now very glad I got it. The turbo spools up so much faster now and my EGT's are lower than before. I have also hit 28 on my boost gauge for the first time. The stock turbo would barely make 25.

For anyone interested, it is a new Borg Warner TP38, part number 170310. You can get it from Dakota Diesel in Sioux Falls SD for $790, and they will ship it wherever you want.

It was very nice to meet Darin and talk with him in person, he's an awesome guy. I appreciate Darin's very generous offer to come help and provide his shop if needed (thanks Darin!! I already sent ya reps!!). I think this forum has some of the best members out there.

Also, thanks for the kind words Darin, I'll have to do something about that insulation now, lol!!

RE Chris

Thats what is so great about this forum. Seems like everyone on here is willing to help a fellow member no questions asked. Damn shame the rest of our country can't take lessons from us. Had problems 2 years ago and Camp Springs John was in contact with me from southern IN till I got to Valdosta GA. Comforting feeling when on the road. Just had to give a Shout Out to all the quys out there. Congrats. Jeep Taylor

Well we are 250 miles from home in Sundance WY. My friend Mike has influenza and feels like crap and his truck is acting up. Its an 03 Cummins and its low on power, higher egts, and lower boost. Normally boost is up to 33psi but its only getting 24 psi max right now and its been pretty steady in the high teens. Usually egts are no problem for this truck but they are about 100-200 degrees higher than normal.

We checked for boost leaks and found none, replaced the fuel filter and the old one looked great. Its not smoking at all which makes me think its a lack of fuel problem. Mike is gonna get some rest and see if he can get to feeling better. We might not head out again till the morning.

Thanks for everything guys, this forum is awesome!! I'll keep you all posted.

You might have to hook up to that dodge and pull that whole lot home! Thanks for the update Chris. Good luck to Mike and his truck means both are sick!

Not a word about your truck. That's good, means it must be running just fine.

Lol I forgot that Darin! Yes my truck is running awesome! I switched trailers, so now I have the 53 footer. Hopefully Mike can pull the lighter one and get home. I like that 1.00 A/R housing, it shifted my power band a little lower and that is great for towing!!
