Went to the parts store with the alt and bat, they said the alternator was good, and the battery was bad. When I tested the output at my house from the alternator, it dropped down to about 12.5 volts under load. So anyway, I put the new battery in, trucks battery light still coming on, so now I am looking for a new alternator from ford, I'll have to put that in next, damn parts store.

I don't trust most of the parts stores. Try finding yourself a local auto electrician to give it a spin. I use one in Collinsville CT and that is the only place that will ever get my alternator business.

Yeah I hear ya. Well, whether or not my dad's truck needed a new battery, it got one, the old one was over 6 or 7 years old and he kinda wanted a new one anyway. Went to whaling city ford in new london and got the alternator, 205 bucks, in stock. No el cheapo alternator for dad. It's all back together now and no more problems. Hopefully he will be all set for another 14 years!

Biggest PITA of the day was running around all over the damn place, that and the bolt that holds down the battery hold down block, thing stripped itself out! Went to the hardware store and got a long self tapper, problem solved

i dont blame him, i would rather use a 5 gallon bucket than use one of these a-hole designed new safety fuel jugs. soon i will be switching my house cans out with some VP cans

I only use those metal Eagle brand 5 gallon cans for gas these days. My only 2 plastic ones left are for kerosene and diesel.

Those VP cans are nice, im not sure what kind of gas cans we have but we have 2 metal ones that are pretty old, and work perfectly. have 3 of the new plastic ones for snowmobile gas and one for diesel, with the semi retarded nozzle. the newer ones are just a complete pain in the *** with the little breather system.
