Upgrade to the 53 F250 today
I have gotten the hard part completed with the upgrade to my 53 F250 today. I pulled the tired/rounded/worn out 350 today and installed a newly painted/rebuilt (not by me though) 383 stroker. this motor is pretty stout, even had roller rockers. I have to say that the orange paint I put on it last night looks pretty sweet...definitley better then the prison gray it was when I bought it.
About to remove the 350
Freshly painted 383
Those are some pretty roller rockers
Finally installed 383

Finally got the motor completely in, hooked up and not leaking fuel anymore (had to replace the fuel pump). Next to work on is the transmission. I need to change the seal and filter than add fluid. I still have to put the hood cowl and hood on, adjust the drivers door (won't shut very well). After all that it will be time to put some miles on her.

This is true. It already had a 350 in it so...it made sense to continue with the Chevy motor for now. I needed a cheap alternative since my budget was quite low. I only paid $1100 for a new rebuilt 383. I felt it was cheaper than trying to get a 351C which is what I really want. One day in the future their will be a Ford motor back in it.

My local auto parts store guy had rebuilt it a while ago and needed to sell. I just so happened to go in looking for a new long block when he mentioned his 383 he wanted to sell for less than a new long block. Needless to say I took it.
