Diablo Predator - Best fuel mileage, which setting?

My 03 F-250 is stock except for the Predator and I have mine on the 60 HP setting. I am getting about 19 MPG. Mostly highway. I have tried all the settings and the mileage doesn't change that much. Since mine is stock I don't feel I get the full advantage of the 85 HP setting so I didn't leave it on there very long. I also only have about 3700 miles on the truck so far. All in all the 40 HP is probably the best with stock intake and exhaust.

I am probably going to go with the lowest setting and track it first then work my way up from there. I just didnt want to go through 3 tanks of gas to wait to find out. Any others results would be greatly appreciated.

I notice power increases on every level. But with the 85 HP after about 3/4 throtle it only makes more smoke, not power. It is surely because of the stock intake and exhaust. After these upgrades I will play with the higher settings.

Are using an EGT gauge? Don't run the truck in 85HP with a stock intake/exhaust without one!

Question Diablo Predator - Best fuel mileage, which setting?

Ken, I have a stock exhaust on my truck w/ the Predator on the 40. I want to put the A pillar gauges on but don't think my downpipe is set-up for the thermo coupler. Do you know if stock downpipes have a plug in them, or should I just change downpipes??? Limited Budget!!!!!!
Thanks

Not to step on kens toes but i have your same truck and installed the tri pillar gauges on mine with stock exhaust. I got a clamp on type pyro and drilled a hole in the down pipe around 2 inches from the outlet of the turbo without removing the downpipe at all. It was a tight fit to get the drill in there but it can be done and still get a straight shot at it. The pyro install kits from autometer usually come with a weld on type fitting which is the best way to do it and clamp on setup all in one box. Hope this helps.

A stock downpipe would require you to tap into it and weld a nut in place for the probe.

Anyone having mushyness with shift should call us about the middle of next week. Diablo has identified an issue with a small number of VDH related codes and an update to the Predator will be made available for those needing it.

I just bought the predator and have been using the 60 hp setting since I got it. I'm waiting until I can add gauges and a new downpipe before I try anything else. The increase in performance has been unreal.

Mileage-wise, I have been over 20 in almost all highway use since I installed the tune. I hit 23 last fill-up!

I have a manual trans so I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

Ken - is there anything more to the update? Should I send mine in for it pretty soon?

Hey Oppy...What part of Wisconsin you in?? I am up here around Stevens Point. It would be nice to hook up with some other SuperDuty Enthusiasts
