Walking was a bad idea..............I would have ran fast to my car and peeled out.

I'd have walked too. That's high $$for that thing.

If you're interested I have a customer that offered me his 01 7.3 X with 110k miles for 15k. I drove it, was a decent car. I passed because I couldn't justify the additional money just to get the powerstroke over the v10.

I am sure this is a minority opinion but when purchasing cars, I like it for someone else to drive. I seem to notice things better when I am not worried about running in to things. I would require that I drive it some to feel steering and power, but am OK with the owner driving it as well.

To answer your question, I would have run at that price and never made it to the drive.

If anyone is finding these for less money let me know. Anything around $20,000 for a 2005 diesel Limited or EB seems cheap right now, the market dictates the price. I'm not in a position to search for a year, need one soon. Just looking for a good one, preferably with some work already done or some extras. Don't mind paying the price if it's a good EX.

I know you said that you are not in a position to wait, but I must say the price of these trucks is inversely proportional to the price of fuel. For some reason $4/gallon seems to be the major tipping point. If you can wait until we hit that again I promise the prices will drop back at least 10-15%.

Something to consider, I'll just continue the search and see what I can find.
Thanks,

I am going to check on this one. He called, but I haven't had time to call back. I can't imagine the body work would be too bad. That would leave enough cash to get it completely bullet proofed. Something to consider. Not sure about the lean situation however, will have to check that out.

Check out Texas. Search Autotrader.com for 500 miles surrounding zip code 76513

Lots of Dealerships have them sitting on lots with every motor available. And decent prices

You won't have rust, you could fly into Austin, DFW, Houston and drive home. And most of Texas is nothing driving. So they truly would be "highway" miles in most cases.

Oh yeah, Autotrader charges $50 for listing. That means you usually only get legitimate sellers. Most flakes won't spend the $$$ when Craigslist is free.

Regular unleaded just hit that around here again. Diesel obviously hit it a while ago.

VERY good point Tylus!

As a matter of fact Hink, if you come accross one in Houston, I'd be more than happy to test drive it and run the AE on it for you before you come down!

Speaking of that, here's another one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-...item2a22aed3de

It has the bulletproof.com EGR delete kit, Oil cooler, and AND ARP studs! He's up in the panhandle and WAY out of my way, but I really think this one is worth calling on as they're rare down here.

It has just about everything I'd want in a 2005 Excursion: lighted running boards, tow mirrors, EGR delete, Studs, new oil cooler. I'd ****** it up, but the deal breaker for me is the second row captain chairs. If it had the bench, I'd be interested...

Thanks! I do have that on my watch list but miles are a bit higher than I'd like. That said, with all that work done and for the right price, it may be worth it. I don't mind not having a rear bench. It will keep my kids' friends from jumping over the seat! I might just call on that one. A lot of those I've found in TX are not cheap.
