2006 6.0 question starting?????

I've had my truck since new and recently it has started doing something that it has never done before. I'm at 105 K miles. Recently, when I start it up it turns oveer for alot longer than in the past. It is turning over fast (not a battery issue). It used to start after 3 or 4 revolutions. Now its probably 12-14. It hasn't not started, but what could be causing the delay for it to fire off. Once running it seems to be normal. Any thoughts? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Use of an aftermarket oil filter or oil filter cap would cause the symptoms that you describe. Weak batteries, a corroded battery connection or corroded starter connection would also be possible.

Our trucks need to build up 500# of HP oil pressure to start. Anything that slows that process down will cause a delayed start.

I'd go through the easy stuff first. If there is nothing obvious, consider investing in a Scangage II. That critter will give you just about any engine parameter readout that you might need. This would allow you to nail down this problem and perhaps head off any other problems before they occurr.

Thanks, Lou!
I always use a Motocraft filter and the cap is the original. Guess I could check the battery connections and have the amperage checked. My batteries were drained down to the point that I had to have a jump after listening to the stereo all day long. It sounds fine (turns over fast) when starting, but maybe they lost just enough oomph to give me this symptom. I'll clean the terminals first to see if that helps.

I really appreciate your input!
