Spark Plug Wires

Getting ready to replace the original plug wires on my '94 F150 with 302:
What I'd like to know is this:Where and/or what brand of wires can I buy that will be the exact length as my originals? mine are absolutely the 1994 originals dated 1994, and have the cylinder number on them as to what cylinder they go to, my local Discount Auto Parts store (Soon to be Advanced Auto Parts) now carries Autolite brand wires in stock, so if I ask for MY application WILL the Autolite wires be the same exact length?? Or should I go to Ford & bend over and buy the Motorcraft wires they sell? are these exact length replacements?? Anyone know for sure?? Thanks!!!!

I think the only "exact" replacement would be the Motorcraft brand. Unless you can get a discount at your dealer, I would suggest an on-line dealer to possibly save some money. Check out http://www.fordpartsonline.com as an example and compare prices.

Motorcraft wires are available at some parts stores.

Wasn't Autolite once affiliated with Ford? What are they now.?

I replaced the original wires from my wife's Aerostar and the originals had the plug numbers written on them (this was opposite the numbering that was in the Chilton manual), but the new Motorcraft wires from a local parts store did not have numbers on them and were longer.

Thanks, guys! I think I'll go by my local Ford dealer and have a look at their Motorcraft wires, if they are not marked with the coresponding cylinder number then I'll go to my private jobber and get the "best" wires he can get for me.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Sep-02 AT 09:06 PM (EST)]If I were you I would just go ahead and get the 9mm Ford racing wires from Summit racing for around $40 bucks. They are numbered and were the same lengths as my Motorcraft wires. You'll probably pay as much if not more for the Motorcraft wires, so why not go a step up to the larger 9mm?

You can go to many electric supply houses and get wire number labels, they're printed white plastic film backed with adhesive. You wrap them around each wire to number them. They come in both numbers and letters and different sized for different diameter wire.
I've never used them on plug wires, but on other projects, they look excellent, they're waterproof and durable.

Get the best wires you can and label them yourself.

Take care,
