Oh yeah! The person who put it in cut the bolts off before setting the stool and didn't clean the threads and the nuts wouldn't start straight so it wasn't tight and was rocking, The wax ring was smashed.

Actually it happens quite often, mostly the home owner doing the work and screwing it up.
