I own a 1989 E-350, with a 460 fuel injection. The problem I have is at times I go to start it and it will fire off then die. When I go to start it again all it will doo is crank. If I walk away and come back to it about an hour later it will fire right off and keep running. Then at time when I go back to it in an hour it will fire off run for about 15 minutes and then stall out. Totally stumped. I was thinking about changing out the computer if I could locate it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I tried a search but did not find a similar situation.

 

PIP failure in the disrbutor will cause similar conditions. Do you get a check engine light when this happsn? if so, do not cut off the ignition, and pull codes.

No I did not get a check Engine lite on

 

get a rebuilt distributor at autozone unless u want to tackle the pip sensor urself, not fun,,,you might also have a bad intank fuel pump, not priming the external frame pump, its best u replace both and check for rust in the fuel tanks,, but first before anything u must do a complete tuneup.plugs , wires, dist cap/rotor

 

Thanks for the info. New fuel pump in both tanks and new frame pump. I will give replacing the distributor a try, along with a complete tune up. Thanks again.
