window glass

What's the best way to replace door glass? My 56 needs both door glasses and the channel strips replaced before I start driving it again. I have not been to the local glass shop yet. I don't think using my old cracked glass for a pattern is a good idea. They never seemed to fit right since I bought the truck. It seems they were cut to small.Any suggestions? Thanks.

I removed mine myself and had new glass cut by my local glass shop. However, if you think your current glass is not cut correctly you may have to order it from someone who specializes in glass for antiques...like Mid Fifty.

If your window track felts are shot there is a good reason for your glass appearing to be "cut too small". Replacement glass is readily available from many sources, I personally use Midfifty as well, so there is no need to have it specially cut at a shop. In my area there are no real glass shops anymore, they all went the way of the auto parts stores with the computer terminals so I don't even try these days.

You might want to consider replacing everything in there while you have it apart. I was shocked at how complicated the doors were.
