Air Bag installation question

I'm looking at the Firestone 2535 kit but am concerned about the diameter of the air bag and having to move the brake cable that runs near where the passenger side bag would go. I've tried looking up replacement air bags to get sizes, but can't find ones that reference the 2535 kit. The 7" and 8" diameter bags sound more like the over-the-road truck sizes. Also, I've not found any comments on installation problems, so maybe I shouldn't be concerned. Does anyone know what the diameter of the air bags are?

Don't know if you've looked into it or not but I installed the Air Lift kit recently and had no problems. It comes with a relocation bracket for the Ebrake cable so im sure it would do the same for the 2012 kit. I also installed the Load controller II system and would recommend it to anyone. One thing I liked about the air lift kit is that the ends and hose connections on the bags are plastic so they won't rust. I don't think you need to worry about the bag size with either kit.

I have the same above set up and have had no problems. However i had it professionally installed and its a good thing i did because it was a pain in the butt for the mechanic. It would have been easy if i didnt have a fifth wheel hitch with mounting brackets. It got in the way but it took em 8 hours to install...

I have the Firestone's and installed them myself. I actually don't remember a problem on the passenger side. My biggest problem was the bolt for the upper bracket was just long enough to get through the bracket, frame, and washers. I could not get it to catch a thread on the nut. I finally ended up going and buying an inch and a half (I think...the next size longer anyway) of the bolt. It went right together after that.

It took me the better part of a day for the bags, but mostly because I didn't have all the right tools (naturally I was a socket short), and not having a lift makes it a real pain as I get up in the years. But I did it, and it was a good feeling when it was done.

All that said, I will pay someone next time!

Air Lift 5000 Bags

I have a f350 4x4 dually and put air lift bags on mine with a reese fifth wheel hitch already on it. It was an easy install, about 2 hours. Well worth it and have had no problems. When ordering look for kit that goes with reese hitch.

You didn't state if your truck is 2wd or 4wd, for our kits there is a difference. The kit we offer for 2wd is 57395, and 4wd is 57396.

Both kits are designed to work with a fifth wheel hitch. Both kits use the same bag, which has a max diameter of 7". The only issue you could potentially run into is because of it being a diesel. We have found that some of the newest SD's with the diesel will have a small black box on the passenger frame rail that will need to be relocated. It is not every diesel truck that has this but we have seen a few cases. The box is easy to move and just needs moved a couple of inches or less. Otherwise, all brackets to relocate anything are included in the kit and documented in the installation instructions.

If you have any specific questions about our kits or other companies, don't hesitate to get a hold of me; I would be happy to help.

It's a 4x4. And thanks for the links. I read thru the installation process and looks like something I can do. I'll have to get under the truck first and see how much space I have from the exhaust pipe. I do not have a gooseneck hitch for the truck yet, but that's planned for next year.
