'99 Mirror swap to '11
-Looking at the '11 mirrors linked below: What does it take to do this swap? I have read about them just bolting on-something about cutting/grinding off a mounting tab.....
As far as the wireing goes, I'm sure I can handle that part, but DON'T want to have to hack up my door panels/switch area.....IS there a switch from say a truck up to '07 that WILL fit into the same hole/opening that my present control switch is in now to control the '11 mirrors? anyone done this?
My current mirrors are fixed, manual swing, non-telescoping, power head-only adjustment. Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, but have not yet chased down the switch issue. I'm considering going to a dealer lot and looking at a truck with the mirrors and switch just to gauge the potential fit for a new switch. I did see one write-up where a guy used his current switch for the power head options, but then ran wiring and mounted two new switches to control the telescoping/folding features. I found the thread and PDF'd the portion which deals with the install of his 2008 mirrors into his '04 Excursion. The details might not be exact, but should be close enough for us to work from. The link to the PDF is below.
BTW... there is no link in your initial post.

I'm trying to get the specs on the factory switches, but it looks like a completely re-engineered switch control setup from what little I've gathered thus far. If that is indeed the case, the new complete switch panel won't fit on our door trim, and we'll have to take care of the new features with some additional switches which will have to be wired in separately. I've found some Ford window switches which can be used for the telescoping and folding features, but using them will take some light fab work.

UPDATE: I now have some pics of the 2011 switches and bezel, complete with dimensions. Looks like it might just be possible after all to use the 2011 switch hardware and keep the factory look with a minor modification to our existing door panel. I'll check out the dimensions and room inside the door panel tonight when I get home to verify whether or not it will fit.
Although I've already completed my purchase for my mirrors, maybe you guys can get a better price if several of you get together. At the same time, though, his price is already pretty good, so he might not move much if at all.
Also, it might take him up to two days to get back to you... that's what I experienced when I asked about the dirty film on the mirrors. Be patient... he's still reporting about 9 or 10 pairs still available.
