Help needed to value 57 F100 in Seattle area
#16
Thank you all for the time and effort helping me get an idea. The price for this particular truck is hard to pin down as its part of a larger barter deal. I have an old 1978 34' CHB trawler thats in need of a lot of love, like most of these trucks.. But the old boat is worth a heap more then at least this particular truck. But it is only one part of a bunch of stuff that is being offered to me, so I am working to give a monetary value to each piece of the trade to be sure its structured so both parties feels they are winning. So no money is trading hands, and moving that boat on relieves me of the monthly expenses like moorage, insurance, etc. Everyone knows the adage that the two happiest days in a boat owners life is buying and selling their boat
Gary, I hope whoever your visiting at the hospital recovers well. I apologize if I missed the details in earlier messages having just joined. I do wish you and yours well though in your time of need and stress. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you, and thank you so much for the offer to support my request.
Everyone has been very helpful and informative with these classic Ford orphan trucks. I must admit the community alone has me wanting to tackle the project. Ive always wanted one, as my neighbor growing up had one sitting out front. He would start it up once a month or so, and nearly killed my cat once in the process. Cat would climb into the engine compartment and rest on the warm engine, and one day when he fired it up, kitty went thru the fan blade. No worries, kitty lived, and I still loved that old Ford. He had the F and D swapped on the tail gate, so it said DORF. And I must admit, that I will be doing the same.... just to reclaim that memory of my youth.
I dont mind the repower using an M block engine. Ive seen those 400M's run 250K miles without issue. I know lots of folks hate it, but also know many who love it. I personally think its a good choice for an F100. Plenty of torque, and in this case, seems to run like a top. Starts easy, runs well, and at least I know the motor fairly well from having a 74 LTD in my youth with a 400 and a C6, same power train that this F100 has been repowered with.
So thanks again to everyone. Keep it coming! I agree shes not safe to drive with the mucked up draglink and some serious seeping on the rear brakes. But the owner is willing to complete a list of todo's before transferring the title, and thru the help of all of you, I am quickly building a well thought out punch list.
Cheers
