Do you tow or haul or not
#32
I tow 95% of the time. Most of my trips are with 10,000lb and 14,000lb trailers. I also tow a 17,000lb trailer a few times a month. No problems at all with the 6.7 and I must say my 6.4 has never worked better than when it is towing regularly.
Seems like some of you have been offended by this person's post (question). I think the question was asked to compare the amount of engine problems with the amount of towing and or hauling activity not to say you should not buy and use a truck for fun or as a daily driver.

I think there is nothing wrong with owning a diesel just to drive it, the same reason you would buy a V8 instead of a V6 Mustang! (keep it Ford )
I tow about 15k lbs of WVO once a month and haul about 3k once a week, this weekend I picked up 650 gallons of WVO, plus my pump was over 5k lbs in the bed. And the truck handled it great!!

I don't tow antthing.....Im overweight so I got a 350 to haul my azz around. It can handle groceries without sagging too badly..... Well a few times a year I get hay. The little woman has donkeys and goats.... I don't know how many and she either doesn't either or wont tell me, my cousin says he counted 23 donkeys but who knows,,,,Actually Ive been getting optioned out vehicles for quite a while, I hate empty spaces in the dash, etc...... When I was in high school, many, many, many moons ago I got a 1970 Dart 340 swinger and liked it, but then I first heard the term pony car and that was it..... Don't get me wrong ,the 2000 lb 275hp party mobile used more than its share of tires, but from then on it was the big boys, so thats why 400 hp F350......If you get all the options you don't have to say I shoulda......Why cant we have a KR in a super cab?????
Good one CTD !!!
to the op.... the wife always corrects me with "It's not what you say, but how you say it"
So coming onto a 6.7 forum to start a thread by inferring
...Why would u (dummies) that don't tow have a 6.7 ? ...
will more than likely get you the response you got
OBTW, I'm one of those that just got it because ....
and my avatar may be a justifiable reason too....

I have come to a conclusion that a lot of the diesel owners do not tow a thing. So I am just curious do you tow or haul anything, if so how much (weight) and how often? For those of you that don’t why did you by this truck to begin with? Theses diesel trucks are made to work, not a grocery getter or drive back and forth to work. Diesel are made to run!

i only have about 1300 miles so far and have only towed (10klb camper) maybe 200 of theose miles. i would say about 700 of the miles are unloaded interstate driving, and the rest (400) are all in town daily driving back and forth to work (8 miles one way...4 trips a day).
it is mainly a daily driver but will tow the camper when needed...maybe a dozen times a year (less than 2500 miles total) i avgerage about 10,000 miles a year so about 25% of the time it will be towing.

I could care less if you want to spend $6000.00 plus for 800 ft. pound of torque
My point is that there is lot of forums out there my turbo is not working or I am getting bad MPG because my engine is doing active regen ECT. The truck was deigned to work. Pull and haul heavy loads. I just want to know what percentage of trucks are doing what they are designed for.
I have had 5 diesel trucks (over 2 million on four of them) three 7.3 and one 6.0 (and my present on 6.7). I have had no engine problems (with 7.3 and 6.0 jury still out on the 6.7) with any of these trucks. The only problems I did have tires, brakes, ball joints tie rod ends all things that ware out. All these trucks towed constantly. I would still own one of the 7.3 if it would not be for the rust factor
