And now it's not worth more than a trot line weight.

Not the motor or anything, but I got new tires today (again) and one of the wheels was warped. They showed it to me on the balance machine. You could see it wobble as it spun. The machine said 8 oz. in one spot and 2.75 oz in another. That's almost a full (insert your favorite beverage here) worth of weight to get it almost balanced. And that was after they spun the tire a few times to find the sweet spot.

So I guess tomorrow I go shopping for one wheel to match the other 3 I have. I guess my Centramatics have masked most of the vibration since this has happened, but now I know why I had that funny tire wear.

Anyone know about how much a new, used wheel might cost from a wrecking yard?

Depends on the wheel. $50-$150 but a lot of yards will only sell sets of 4. Check Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market That's who I usually use.

At $100 a wheel I could just buy a new set of aftermarket ones. The really sad part is we just sold my niece's wheels that looked exactly like mine 3 weeks ago for what appears to have been way too cheap.

Around here you can pickup a set of Lariat slotted wheels for $150ish for all 4. Craigslist tends to have some great deals.

I've got 4 stock wheels off a 2000 XLT, if that's what you are looking for you could have one if you'll pay the shipping.

Nice offer, I have 3 in my attic if you only need one just pay shipping. I don't think I need them anymore since I sold my truck.

Yeah, I'm suffering from psd withdraws. Couldn't afford to drive it as my daily driver anymore. It needed front end work and new tires and didn't have the cash for that now. We have two fords now. My wife's 2007 ford edge and my pos escort. Not that bad of a car at least it gets good gas mileage.

Sorry to hear Grant, what a bummer. Chris, I've always seen lots of add's on Craigslist people selling used stock wheels, great prices around here, check Pa.'s prices versus Texas just for comparison.

You could order any of the wheels offered on the different trim packages. I don't think there was actually a Lariat wheel, most just ended up with the default option when the dealer made the choices when ordering. I've got the wheels with the round holes. Either of you have one of those? I wonder how much shipping would be?

I found one today, but they wanted $165 each and wanted to sell them as a set. I would think I could get some simple looking rims for around $100 each if I went aftermarket. Anyone know of a silver / polished type rim with either circles or a spoke pattern that are rated for at least 3400 lbs or more? Are there any aftermarket hubcentric wheels or are they all lug centric?

99.99% of aftermarket wheels are lug centric, and the stockers are hub centric. Now... If you NEED to use the only hub centric wheels and cannot use lug centric is another story entirely.. But I will leave with this;

I know many people with superdutys who tow heavy loads, and do not have hubcentric wheels. The rest is up to you.
