What are the best shocks for an F-250 2 wheel drive?

My truck has had new gas shocks put on it recently, I don't remember the brand of them (they were put on just before I bought the truck) and my truck right now rides like a damn lumber wagon, but that's what an F-250 is anyways lol, it hurts your back after driving it for a half hour or more. Does anyone know what the best shocks are for these trucks for a smooth (er) ride but can still haul some weight?

What else is on the rear(any helper springs or overloads). I wouldn't think a regular shock would stiffen the ride that much. If you think that's what it is, disconnect them temporarily and see what happens during a test ride.

All it has are shocks on the back, nothing else. I just checked it has sensatrac shocks all the way around, I think just the front shocks were replaced though, that's all that's on the receipt that the guy gave me for them.

If you only have shocks on the back your in trouble haha you should have standard 250 leaf packs, and shocks depend on how much you have to throw into it. If you really want to go all out instead of shocks buy airbags and that way you can decrease the pressure for a softer ride or increase for more work load. Other than that i don't know of many "soft" shock brands other than Bilstein and i have no personal experience with them.

Tire ply, tire pressure, lift kits or no lift kits, 2x4 or 4x4, springs, shocks, and the wheelbase all have a big impact on what your ride quality will be like.

Whatever kind of shock was put on the truck, you likely have one that is too stiff and won't let the truck's suspension have some give.

I'd just order a set of OEM or OEM equivalent shocks and put on the truck and see what it does then. I'll bet it smooths out real nice for you.

My truck looks like it's still running on the original shocks. I've done the bounce test and they test fine. REALLY nice ride too.

Yeah, my bronco wasn't really ment to have a soft ride but i must say, currently it isn't bad unless i hit the normal bone jarring bump. The bigger softer bumps are ok though and my truck seems to have lift shocks on it as opposed to regular ones.

Currently my truck has LT235 85 series R16 tires on it, all 4 set to 40 PSI, the shocks test out fine when you jump up and down on the truck, in fact if you get in the bed and jump around the truck bounces rather easy ( for a while then they get stiff), it bounces a lot but it is still stiff. 133" WB 4X2. Going over rail road tracks is a little scary and painful sometimes if your going over 20 MPH. Especially the railroad tracks right past the Pacific police station/fire house. Dylan probably would know what tracks I'm talking about lol. Same with the tracks by the Shell/Wendy's down by the super mall.

Haha i know the ones you speak of. The ones by the mall are the worst though, i jumped my ranger on their once but every time i go fast with the bronco it is so heavy it drops. In my ranger i found the faster i go the smoother it is but the bronco it is worse.

Yeah, if you head west off of C street and head towards the mall area that whole road is horrible, but those big tracks at the end by the interurban are not fun, my brother said he took a car from a dealership he used to work at and flew over those tracks and broke the muffler off the car....LOL

There's a big difference in ride quality between an F150 & an F250.

Empty on a rough road, my F250 feels like it has wooden wheels........the two F150's I've owned were much more car-like, but that's the trade off for carrying capacity.

Yeah no kidding there is, we test drove a couple 70's F150's before I wound up with this thing and they rode a lot like a car, F250's how ever, are like driving a half ton on a gravel road littered with pot holes....With no shocks.

Yeah i know what you guys mean. The bronco being designed for light off road wasn't made to have soft suspension BUT that doesn't mean you can't make it softer. I have been looking into it since i got mine and i started by pulling off my extra 2 shocks on my front end. If you got money to dump into it, you might look into some superflex leafs. Doesn't have to be lift ones just a 4 leaf stock size or something. I know on mine i would need superflex coils and possibly new leafs but i don't know for sure.

Wouldn't 4 leafs make the truck ride stiffer? mine already has 3, on each side. Or were you meaning 4 leafs for both sides?
