I have a clicking noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. The clicking increases in rate as you accelerate and then slows as the RPMs drop when I stop. It was very loud a few weeks ago but has now gotten quieter, but its still there. It makes me nervous when problems "heal" by themselves. Any ideas?
I assume were talking about the F350 in your sig. I would check for exhaust leaks on the up pipes and exhaust system. How many miles are on the truck and was any fuel injector work ever done to it?

My F350 has 220,000 miles on it. I did have injector work done a few years ago when the truck was dying intermittently, but it ended up being the cam positioning sensor. I dont think the injectors were replaced, just cleaned out. Would have to check my records. I will try the AC on-off and report back.
I dropped the truck off for an oil change with my mechanic and asked for a diagnosis. Turned out to be a bad bearing on the serpentine belt idler. $65 bucks to replace the idler and all quiet now.
