Okay, I am interested in a 1999 Ford F-250 4x4 5.4L XL, and I was wondering, if I purchased a Superchips Flashpaq 1865, how much would that increase on the gas mileage?
I'm not sure on how much but the 99 models have less power then the "PI" 2000+ model years. I would look for a 2000+ if it's in your price range. I'm
Sure Someone will chime in on the mileage but my E350 with the 5.4 gets about 14 highway and about 12 city
Yeah I don't trust tunes' claims of better mpg. From my experience my truck gets better performance but the mpg stays relitively the same. My friend with a 5.4 3v claims he gets better mpg with a superchip but that is all based off of a dash mpg indicator. I think that if you do get the truck get the tuner you want and then hand calculate the average fuel milage over at least 4 tanks of gas. 4 tanks without the tune then 4 tanks with the tune; then you would have a good idea of how much fuel economy you got.
I'm pretty sure they do. Look at the Superchips Flashpaq 1865 on YouTube, it shows a fuel economy option for a running mode
They don't. They'll make the truck run a bit more efficient, maybe better trans shifting and less gear hunting, better performance at wide open throttle, but nothing noticeable mileage wise especially on a bone stock truck.
If all of the claims for better MPG were true, you could have a 50mpg truck with all the BS out there...
Improving MPGs is not easy to do with a gas engine. If there was a magic bullet, then the OEM's would be using it. All mfg's of aftermarket performance accessories claim improvements, yet none consistently and reliably deliver.
