WOOO! LOCKER!!

They are open until flipped on. I was thinking of the Auburn, which my pickup has. The price wasn't too bad, I bought it for 300 bucks from a junkyard. I found the whole axle in question sitting under a t-boned Wrangler, with disc brakes. I am thinking it was an explorer axle. When I saw an extra set of wires going into the diff, I felt exploration was justified. 10 bolts off and there it was. I found paperwork in the console showing it was installed 3 weeks before the date on the windshield auction sticker. I also grabbed the awesome front LED offroad lights, a 6000lb warn winch, and a large deep cycle I found in a box in the back of the jeep. 900 for all of it. I suspect the driver didn't make it, based on the condition of the drivers seat and good gear left on the vehicle. I said a little prayer and left it to be picked over by others.

The 60 is a good axle. My 4x4 E-Superduty conversion RV project uses a 60 up front and an 80 out back. Plenty of lockers are available. I went ARB for the front and rear.
I have heard the 9 isn't half bad, and has good sized bearings. I've also been told that the 8.8 axles are actually quite strong, and its not worth installing a 9 over an 8.8, and you should just go 60 if you need more axle.
Opinions are like *******s though, everyone's got one and some stink more than others!
