92 F-150 OK to unplug knock sensor?

5.0/E4OD truck, the "Red Devil". It's eaten the thrust bearing in the new 308 (trans problem) So i'm swapping in a '98 Exploder 5.0 (just the shortblock) The '98 motor has no bung for the knock sensor, is it OK to just omit it? I'm thinking it generates a voltage when there is a knock, so it should be no problem, but didn't know if it will set a code or pull timing without it. On the positive I now have some GT40P heads and intake sitting around for when I fix the 308! I think it'll end up in my '64 F-100 now.

It's also getting a '95 junkyard E40D so hopefully there is no more problems.

PS, did Ford ever use Fel-pro head gaskets? The 'sploder motor looked un-touched, but I did notice it had fel-pro head gaskets. I can't imagine the heads have been off, because they need a valve job badly.
