getting rid of bad gas

i went to move the 2000 yesterday and it will not start because the gas went bad .
it has been sitting about 6 months, since it did not snow this past winter.
how do i go about cleaning the fuel system?

i was thinking suck the gas tank empty with an electric fuel pump, and blowing out the lines with air. does this sound rite?

How much fuel we talkin' about still in the tanks?

If you do replace it all with known good gas I'd add a bottle or two of Techtron and let it run through the system. I'm thinking after a few minutes of running the bad fuel should be burned off and no longer a problem. I could be mistaken in this though especially if it refuses to start altogether at the moment.

there is about 10-12 gallons in it .
it will not fire at all due to the bad gas. in 6 months it turned to varnish smell.

Then it seems your original plan would be best, probably no other way to get ignition.

That's a bummer for sure and maybe a lesson for others who do or are planning to store a vehicle for some time.

Hope this turns out to be a relatively easy task!

Seems awful fast for gas to turn "south"??
are you sure you don't have other contributing factors to not running....no spark...blown fuse ...etc??

If you still need to empty the tank then either drop the tank or remove the bed , remove the pump and drain it that way

the tank is already empty. i need to purge the bad gas out of the fuel lines, fuel rail, and injectors.

6 months in not fast for gas to go bad when you are talking about ethanol blend.

Disconnect the fuel lines at the rail, fill tank with a few gallons of gas and turn the Key to On and let the pump clean the lines. I'd also suggest a can of seafoam to help clean the system.

well, it's alive again. 7 gallons of stale gas out of the tank, and 3 hours to purge the lines. it finally started. i put 1 half pint of seafoam in the 1 gallon can the fuel pump is in, and let it run for 3 minutes to circulate the seafoam. it is now sitting to let the seafoam do it's magic.

Good news then! This might be a good learning experience for someone else too!

Just out of curiosity how is the stale fuel disposed?

That's a goo idea---same as I'd do but of course the ratio of good>bad would be important---sounds like you'll be fine.

if i had not had the service truck here, it would have been used as weed/bug killer around the property.

i am not to concerned with what the epa ***** say.
it came out of the ground, and people have been using petroleum products as insecticides with excellent success for many many years until the tree huggers decided it was bad and we should use man made carcinogens instead.

most of the time the crap they tree huggers want us to use is 100 times more dangerous than the natural products used for centuries before
