351 W timing chain
Hoping the expertise of this groups can give me some advice...long story shot: 1988 F250 4WD auto, allegedly broken or jumped timing chain. Haven't turned it over for fear of damage. Will I find broken/bent valves? Other damage?
This nice big truck will replace (finally) my good ol' 1960 F250 while it's getting kingpins.
Thanks everybody...all comments welcome.

there shouldnt be any damage from it slipping, just pull it apart and replace it and go on your merry way. I have had several jump with no problems, it might just be a bad wire somewhere tho, I had a 1982 van that we thought te timing chain had gone in but it was a hot wire going to the ignition grounding out.

Hi,
Before ripping the timing chain out I would find out actually what was wrong causing the no start. If you have Compression, Spark, and Fuel you should be getting something, so I would begin checking there.
Then I would check to make sure that the distributor is turning and then, check to see if the engine is in time or not.
Also I would think with a stock engine even if the chain broke (although I never saw a broken chain just slipped or the plastic broken) you would not have any valve to piston contact.
Good luck,
Tom
