Ground's not soft here. And thankfully, no 20" of snow either.

I saw that. So we're supposed to believe the guy at the call center reading prepared statements?

Not saying the Ford rep is 100% wrong. Mercon V has been used in countless transfer cases for years now without all the Ford 4 x 4's ending up on the side of the road. I just don't buy the answer that Mercon V has more additives and cost than you need for a transfer case. It was just an overpriced product for the application we said to use until we came out with the cheaper transfer case fluid.

McDonalds and all the others didn't start warning you the coffee was hot until they got their but sued in court and lost. Before that you were supposed to know coffee was hot. Ford labeling bottles of Mercon V "not for use in transfer cases" sounds like a lawyer got some money out of them somewhere, or they figured out that Mercon V would do something bad if folks kept using it.

The really interesting part of this story for me is, what about all the other companies that make Mercon V? Are Valvoline, Mobil, etc. labeling their bottles the same way? (yet)

Those are great questions Chris. Here is one more.

What should we be putting in our manual transmissions? It seems to me that a ZF would have more in common with a transfer case than it would with an automatic transmission.

In other news, it's a weird weather morning here today. -11 and foggy as heck. Spotty fog was so bad on the way to work this morning there were times I couldn't see 10 feet in front of me. Makes for some really pretty trees when the fog clears up though!

Hey, it looks like my house last winter lol!

I dang near died Sunday. I got the stomach flu worse than I ever have before. I went to the first care center in the afternoon and then the ER in the evening before it finally got under control. Contagious too, everyone I saw over the weekend got it too. Thankfully they didn't get it quite as bad as I did.

Phil I hope you feel better!

As for all you saps dealing with winter snowmagedon. Here in IL we've been dealing with temps ranging from 20-30 with a few random days of rain/sleet and a tad bit of snow. Currently its sunny and 30 and the ground is soft.

Also our Sr project is coming along nicely. We have gotten a good portion of the fuselage put together and are working on the coding and drop mechanism for the hatch.

Its pretty sad when your truck you've owned for 4 days breaks down and has to be saved by the truck you've owned for a year that's never left you stranded and has 400K miles...

I thought it was 6.uh oh. Lol On another note I was cleaning the barn out on a farm I rent for my heifers, my old skid steer stays here and only gets used every 2-3 days, a kitten(at least I think it was) made a home in the cooling fan area and half way through it made its way to the cooling fan. It's quite the procedure to get to as well. It's kind of like a squirrel cage blower setup behind the cab. I have to lift the cab, unbolt the fan and clean it all out. Yay. I really do need the extra work, honestly
I yeah. Hope you feel better phil and JP I hope it's an easy fix
