It did come from a super duty, it that was wrecked from the front with a broken water pump and timing cover. I'm pretty sure they got all the SD parts and put obs parts on it, more demand for SD parts, and the truck was an e99 so the spider didn't come in the package.
Ahh yes the Detroit, changed the oil, fuel filters, but the water pump is seized probably from rust, it's on hold for a while until the 7.3 engine goes into the work truck. I have trucks coming for brake service or maintnace all week so busy schedule.

If it was from an e99 it has the wrong plenum. ..

That's right hmm??? The sealant did look fairly new so they must of taken them out and installed the late 99+ plenums.

Quick question. I'm trying to sell an Excursion on craigslist. One of the replies I got was kinda worded funny, but not too bad. They asked for the VIN number to verify it's a clean title (it is). I'm guessing they just want to run a car fax of something on it, but figured I'd better ask around and make sure there's not some type of scam going where they do something with the VIN number.

Anyone heard of anything like that? Am I just being paranoid?

you are just being paranoid.

and i would tell them you will get the VIN if and when you buy it.
i never give out VIN until i have the cash in hand.

hmmmm. i guess that makes me paranoid too, huh?

He wants my cell number and to know if I'm available next Friday. Doesn't sound like he's in too big a hurry.

Most scammers act like they are in a huge hurry.

I won't buy a vehicle w/o the VIN because I want a car history report.

If it were me, I'd tell him to come look at it and then he can write down the VIN and get the report on his phone. Until then, he can take your word for it.

A bit of progress on Saturday and today.

So far so good painted the engine and timing cover, installed injector cups, installed new revised oil rail galley plugs with new seal and locktight, cleaned all water jackets, drained all the old oil from oil rails and cleaned with brake cleaner, and did a compression test,r the numbers are good, all in the 390 being the lowest and 400 the highest no oil in cylinder either, you can see all the cross hatches on the cylinder bore nice and clear. More pics to come.

Adam sounds like you should put this engine in your truck. It sounds like it will be a good one and all the work you have done will make it that much better!
