Richard, what tires are they?
They were bf Goodrich rugged terrain tires. My whole family have been using bfgs on our trucks for decades and never had a problem. I think I just got a bad batch.

On a side note, anyone know if dodge 18 wheels will fit and work on our trucks?

I have been sitting on the 09 axles for a long time in part because they require larger wheels. I figure if I can find a cheap set of 18 inch wheels that fit these axles, when I swap I can just move the tires to the SD wheels.

When I bought these tires I was thinking about the commercial TAs. The thing I liked about the rugged terrain was that they were still a highway tire bit had a little more aggressive tread. I live in an area with some dirt roads that I have to use. When it gets rainy it gets slick.

Hey Glenn... I was just thinking... And I know this might be sacrilegious but I would extend your thoughts into the 99-03 super duties. Same fabulous driveline but quieter and mor comfy interior.

The big bonus for me would be the suicide rear doors on the super cab. Makes the rear seat so much more useable.

I know you spent a lot of time making your interior quieter.

Richard, that sucks about your bed. Your truck is very clean and nice. The same thing happened to Tyler last fall.

I have thought of rummaging through scrap yards and Craigslist for good rust free parts and then taking a trip out to you guys and sell everything off and fly back.

Glenn,

Wiring looks fried like there was an electrical issue, but how do you tell if that started before or after the fire.

There's just not a lot there to cause a fire between the turbo and firewall (guess it really was a firewall for you). Have you checked the oil level in the truck to see if it was low? Although you would think an oil leak issue would have given signs on the ground or caused the truck to stall from low oil.

Did you happen to take a look at the fuel line on the passenger head in the back? Maybe a leak there caused something? Of course many have leaked fuel into the valley with no fire (myself included thanks to a faulty crossover line from a vendor here)

Chris, I checked oil and antifreeze levels and they were good. I felt back on the fuel lines and they were dry and intack. The oil feed line for the turbo was good as far as I could tell. But, of course the lines were dry because of the fire. I don't know if the cause of the fire will ever be figured out.

OK guys, welcome 'BIG BLUE' to our family. I couldn't help myself because its so, so clean. If this link goes down I'll get pictures tomorrow. The only thing I don't like is the gold color of the running boards. I got the guy down to 11,750, don't know yet what I'll get out of mine but it won't be that much, I'm sure. He might pull the link, I'll take more pictures tomorrow.

Oh my, Glenn, that is gorgeous. Congratulations! I LOVE LOVE that blue!

I've been working today. Took the plenum's off of my truck and 're sealed them. Flange gasket on the turbo was also leaking (From not being tight enough) not helping anything. The outpouring of support and generosity here at this campground had floored me. Definatly not use to it, we really have a great family here.

Did you use the plenums that I had Clay send there? LOL Glad your having a good time! I'll have to call them and see if they will send me my two packages that were mailed there. I hope Aaron got the axle fixed! I've been gone all day getting the Big Blue so haven't read all the posts yet.

Haha your like the 5th person to ask. Lol. They wouldn't work anyways. Not with out some modifications. Maybe time for a bigger snail? Lol.

They worked most of the afternoon on that axle. Kevin brought his welder and that has made things go smooth for the most part. They're going to wrap it up tomorrow. It's very impressive what they have done.

I think Aaron said he would handle your packages but don't quote me on that.

Sweet Glenn. I was going to send you a pm then I saw this lol. Glad to see your not switching to the dark side. I'm thinking there may be a fair bit of useable stuff on the mule. Plus since your in there anyway now would be a good time to try out the stage 1 366 combo. I wonder if your turbo would still be useable. I'm happy now

Glenn, that thing is even better looking than I had imagined it! I LOVE that color of blue; and that thing is soooo clean. I'm curious what the wife thought of it when she saw it. That's a really nice truck and it's gonna look sweet hooked up to your 5er.

I'm thinking you're back in business. Albeit I don't think you'll be towing as fast as you were with the mare, but I think that thing will do the job just fine. I will be curious to hear the difference between the dually CC and the EC. Hopefully those hitch rails don't pose you any issue, like we talked.

I say you have someone locally there pull the engine and trans like we talked, then sell the rest of the truck off to you know who and start the build again. One thing I think I would recommend though is that if you build this one up, you install stage 1's and not the 2's you have. You could sell the 2's off or send them to Jim for him to install stage 1 nozzles. Given Darrin's experience towing with stage 1s and more or less the same setup you have there, I think you'd be a lot happier with it.

Time to start a build thread! Lol.

Seriously though, I am glad you found something and it looks like a real gem. Sapphire to be exact...mounted on gold.

It's pouring rain here or I would get more pictures.

That's pretty funny Thomas, 5th one huh? Lol

Call anytime Aaron!

Nick & Nate, it will be stage ones this time, I've always been jealous of Darin's performance! It was almost dark when I got back to the camper but the wife seemed to like it!! I just hope it can handle this load until I get back to AZ!

So far Bill I like the color too! I'm going to try hard to keep it looking good but these long trips I beat on it pretty hard.
