Hey guys,

This is sort of jumping the gun, because I'm probably not going to be able to actually make this purchase till near the end of the year. But I've been wondering for a long time, and I'd MUCH rather post here than study.

I'd like to go ahead and upgrade to some different wheels whenever these tires wear out. Which may be sooner than I'm hoping, because I've worn the centers of my rears down past the wear bars within 10k miles. PSI was too high, I wasn't paying attention, blah blah blah.

I'm not really into the idea of putting down a grand just for wheels, and I'm not trying to get something fancy or shiny. I mainly want to go to different wheels so I can run wider tires (35's probably) without too much of a lift. I'm running Khumo 315's right now, with no lift or leveling kit at all...I expect I should be able to handle 35's pretty well with a leveling kit and rear blocks. I really like the steel, black powdercoated wheels I see on all those muddied up jeeps around here, they look simple and clean, and the black would go along with the look I'm going for.

I've done some research, and they also seem to be MUCH cheaper than buying rockstars or any nice fancy wheel like that. My concern is where do I find simple steel wheels that won't cut down on my weight capacity? Obviously steel wheels made for a jeep or little 4x4 offroader won't necessarily be up to handling a ton or two of gravel in the bed, or anything like that. I have done TONS of searching, but I can't even find weight ratings for most of these things, and when I do, they're way lower than my stock wheels.


Thoughts/suggestions?

 

A couple years ago I found a nice chart showing wheel weight capacities, but I cannot find it just now. I found it at south west wheel dot com which has some decent choices for ya. "OEM spec" but definitely ask what the actual rating is.

A seriously BA look is spray on bedliner instead of paint. Might have balancing issues tho. Seen it, never done it.

Honestly, the style I'm looking for goes more in this range here.

The thing is, these wheels are rated for 2000 lbs a peice...and I'm pretty sure that's not enough for our trucks. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

The big thing I'm looking for is wheels that will allow me to run a wider tire, taller tire than stock without wear or rubbing issues, and NOT reduce my carrying or load bearing capacity.

 

Well, at 2K each, your truck alone would almost be that much. I'd imagine that your truck along with a toolbox and a few hundred pounds of payload would put you at 8K.
