40 3/4 or 1 ton

Hi Everyone.
I am looking for a restore to original. I was looking for a 48-50 F-1 or F-2 but saw a nice 40 Ford all original but the wheels are gone and the grill is messed up.

1. I have seen that the wheels might be hard to find for this truck.

2. If I restore will the V8 Flat head be a good dailly driver?

3. What would an be a good price for this truck?

4. What problems might their be on the 40 verses the 48?

I have a picture that I could email pm me.

Thanks Neal

Is it a 8' pickup box? The wheels are 5 lug and 17" split rims. I have some here in Wa. They arent really too hard to find. I have some really good tires too that I might part with. To me the big question is will a heavy low geared stiffly sprung one ton be what you want since you were looking for a half ton? They are two completely different animals. Some of us only like the big heavy stuff and we know their limitations and use them accordingly. I daily drove a '38 tonner for almost 10 years in the 90's, but I live on an Island with a top speed limit of 40 mph, and it was used for business and hauling and I went through 3 flatheads (I still like them). My advice is do some research and be patient and get what you want. The one ton will never make a good cruiser with comfort and hiway speeds without a lot of mods and believe me NOTHING is available in the aftermarket running gear like disc brakes etc. You will be ahead with a factory made half ton if that's what you were looking for at the start. Thanks for the information. I know that the 1940 will not ride as nice as the 1/2 ton, but I have not found a 1/2 ton F-1 yet that is for sale.

I will keep looking but I will still have the option of the 40 ford.
